Unfollow, Mute, and Block

Instagram

    • Go to the profile of the account you want to unfollow.

    • Tap the "Following" button near the top of the screen.

    • From the menu that appears, select "Unfollow". You’ll stop seeing their posts in your feed.

    • Find a post from the account you want to mute or go to their profile.

    • Tap the "Following" button.

    • From the menu, select "Mute".

    • You can choose to mute Posts, Stories, or both. Muted accounts won’t know you’ve muted them.

    • Go to the profile of the account you want to block.

    • Tap the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner.

    • Select "Block" and confirm your action. Blocking prevents the person from interacting with you or seeing your content.

Facebook

    • Go to the profile of the person or page you want to unfollow.

    • Click on the "Following" button (located near the top of their profile).

    • From the dropdown menu, select "Unfollow". You’ll remain friends (if it’s a person) or continue liking the page, but you won’t see their posts in your feed.

    • Find a post from the person or page you want to mute.

    • Click the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner of the post.

    • Select "Snooze [Person/Page] for 30 days". This mutes their posts for 30 days.

    • Go to the profile of the person you want to block.

    • Click the three dots (•••) on their cover photo (next to the Message button).

    • Select "Block", and confirm your choice. Blocking will prevent them from seeing your posts or interacting with you.

Twitter (X)

    • Go to the profile of the account you want to unfollow.

    • Tap the three dots (•••) on their profile page.

    • Select "Unfollow" from the dropdown menu.

    • Find a tweet from the account you want to mute or go to their profile.

    • Tap the three dots (•••) on the tweet or profile.

    • Select "Mute [@Username]". Muted accounts won’t know they’ve been muted, and you won’t see their tweets in your timeline.

    • Go to the profile of the account you want to block.

    • Tap the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner of the profile.

    • Select "Block [@Username]" and confirm your choice.

TikTok

    • Go to the profile of the account you want to unfollow.

    • Tap the three dots (•••) on their profile page.

    • Select "Unfollow" from the dropdown menu.

  • TikTok does not offer a mute feature for individual accounts.

    • Go to the profile of the account you want to block.

    • Tap the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner.

    • Select "Block" and confirm. Blocking will prevent the account from viewing or interacting with your content.

Muting Words and Phrases

Instagram

  • Instagram does not allow you to mute specific words or phrases in your feed. However, you can mute words for comments and direct messages.

    To Mute Words in Comments or Direct Messages:

    1. Go to your profile and tap the three lines (≡) in the top-right corner.

    2. Select Settings and Privacy.

    3. Scroll to "Hidden Words" under the Privacy section.

    4. Under the Manage Custom Words and Phrases section, tap "Manage List" to enter the words or phrases you want to mute for comments and messages.

    5. Instagram will automatically hide comments or DMs containing those words or phrases.

Facebook

  • Facebook does not offer a specific feature for muting words or phrases from appearing in your feed or posts. However, you can use the following workaround:

    Hide Specific Posts or Content:

    1. If you see a post containing unwanted words or phrases, click the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner of the post.

    2. Select "Hide post". Facebook will show fewer posts like this in the future.

Twitter (X)

  • Twitter (X) offers a word and phrase muting feature that can be applied across your timeline and notifications.

    • To Mute Words or Phrases:

      1. Open the sidebar menu and go to Settings and Privacy.

      2. Tap Privacy and Safety.

      3. Select Mute and Block, then tap Muted Words.

      4. Tap the plus sign (+) to add the words, phrases, usernames, or hashtags you want to mute.

      5. Choose where you want the mute to apply (Home timeline, Notifications, or both) and for how long (forever, 24 hours, 7 days, etc.).

      6. Save your settings, and the words or phrases will be muted.

TikTok

  • TikTok does not have a built-in feature to mute specific words or phrases in your feed. However, you can take actions to filter content in other ways:

    Filter Certain Comments Using Keywords:

    1. Open Settings and Privacy by tapping the three lines (≡) in your profile.

    2. Go to Privacy, then select Comments.

    3. Toggle on "Filter Comments", and enter specific words or phrases you want to filter out of your comment section.

    Hide or Report Content:

    1. If you see content in your feed that contains unwanted words or phrases, long-press on the video.

    2. Select "Not Interested" to see less content like this in the future.

Finding Better Content

Instagram

    1. Go to the profile of the account you find inspiring.

    2. Tap on the "Following" button near the top of their profile.

    3. You will see a list of accounts they follow. You can scroll through and click on any account to explore further.

    4. Tap the "Follow" button next to any account that resonates with you.

    1. On Instagram, tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen (this opens the search page).

    2. In the search bar at the top, type the phrase or hashtag you want to explore.

    3. Tap Search, then choose "Tags" to see all relevant hashtags.

    4. Scroll through the results, and tap on a hashtag to see posts with that tag. You can follow hashtags to see related posts on your feed regularly.

    1. Tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your screen to open Instagram’s Explore page.

    2. On this page, Instagram will show you posts and accounts it recommends based on your activity and interests.

    3. Scroll through this page, and if something catches your eye, tap on it to explore further.

    4. If you find an account you like, tap Follow.

Facebook

    1. Go to the profile of the person or page you find inspiring.

    2. Near the top of their profile, click on the "Friends" (for personal profiles) or "Following" (for pages) tab.

    3. You will see a list of people or pages they follow. Browse this list to find more accounts you might like.

    1. In the top bar of Facebook, click on the search icon (magnifying glass).

    2. Type in the phrase or hashtag you are looking for.

    3. Press Enter, and you’ll see related posts, people, groups, and pages.

    4. From there, you can explore different accounts and content related to that phrase or hashtag.

  • Facebook does not have a 'Discover' feature like some other platforms. However, you can use the Explore tab to find pages and groups related to your interests.

    1. Go to the Menu (three horizontal lines on the mobile app).

    2. Scroll down to find the "Groups" or "Pages" sections under the Explore tab.

    3. Facebook will recommend groups or pages based on your activity and interests.

Twitter (X)

    1. Go to the profile of the account you find inspiring.

    2. Click on the "Following" tab near the top of their profile (next to "Followers").

    3. You’ll see a list of accounts they follow. You can browse through these accounts, click on profiles, and follow any that interest you.

    1. Click the magnifying glass icon on the left-hand menu (or top-right on mobile).

    2. Type a phrase or hashtag into the search bar.

    3. Tap Search. You will see the latest tweets, accounts, photos, and videos related to that phrase or hashtag.

    4. Select "People" or "Hashtags" from the filter options to narrow your search to relevant accounts or hashtags.

    1. Tap the magnifying glass icon on the left-hand side (desktop) or bottom of your screen (mobile). This opens Twitter’s Explore page.

    2. Scroll through the content that Twitter suggests based on your activity.

    3. Tap on any post or account that interests you. If you like an account, tap Follow to see more of their content.

TikTok

    1. Go to the profile of the account you like.

    2. Tap on the "Following" tab near the top of their profile.

    3. You’ll see a list of people they follow. Browse through these accounts and tap on any profile that looks interesting.

    4. Tap Follow to start following any account that resonates with you.

    1. Tap the magnifying glass icon (or "Discover" tab) at the bottom of the screen.

    2. In the search bar, type in the phrase or hashtag you want to explore.

    3. Tap Search to see videos related to that hashtag or phrase.

    4. Browse through the results, and you can follow accounts that resonate with you by tapping Follow on their profile.

    • Tap the magnifying glass icon (also labeled as "Discover").

    • TikTok will show you popular and trending videos based on your interests and activity.

    • Scroll through the content, and if something catches your eye, tap on the video to watch.

    • If you like the account, tap Follow to see more of their videos in your feed.
